In addition to the other activities that are outlined in the other categories on this page, there are also many more things to do on Mersea:
The Foot Ferry runs from East Mersea Point on a scheduled service during peak months and runs trips between East Mersea, Brightlingsea and St Osyth. Both seaside towns have plenty to offer visitors with a great view back over the water to Mersea. The ferry welcomes children, dogs and cycles. Outside of peak times, the ferry runs a service bookable by phone. Timetables and information leaflets are available locally.
The locally owned boat Lady Grace runs a regular boat trip around the harbour from the Causeway Jetty on Coast Road. For a small cost, you can take a 20 minute boat ride around to see the local sights from the water.
While at the coast road area, why not visit the Lifeboat Station. The local volunteers for the RNLI are based at the lifeboat station on the West end of Coast Road and the station is open to visitors during peak times. You can see the lifeboat and learn about how the crew operate in emergency situations.
If you’re feeling energetic, why not join is with Mersea 5 Star Boot camps. Taking place several times a week, these sessions are sure to get your heart racing and leave you feeling fit and toned.
