Monkey Beach Cottage

Monkey Beach Cottage has been offering self-catering accommodation on Mersea Island since 2010 and has been featured in Coast magazine and the Times, Guardian and Daily Mail.

Formerly two fisherman’s cottages, this 300-year-old Grade II listed
building is now chic and characterful self-catering accommodation, sleeping up to 7 people.

Located moments from the beach and a five-minute walk to the village, the cottage has bucketloads of charm. The aim has been to create a coastal hideaway that is characterful, cosy and comfortable, with a mixture of vintage and contemporary furniture, and artwork on the walls by local artists like David Britton.

There are two sitting rooms (one with sofa bed), two double bedrooms, one single bedroom, a bathroom, shower-room, fully equipped kitchen and dining room. We provide Egyptian cotton sheets, big fluffy towels and high quality bedding.

A beautiful summer house in the large enclosed garden is the perfect place to snooze in the sun or snuggle up with a book in the colder months, whilst a large outside table and BBQ offers excellent al-fresco dining opportunities.

With stunning views of the sea, salt marshes, beach and boats, and a short stroll to the island’s famous seafood restaurants, it’s the ideal place to stay on Mersea Island.

We offer weekend, mid-week and weekly stays and can give reductions for parties of three of fewer people.

We welcome well-behaved pets and can provide a cot and highchair for our younger visitors.
